Many people think skipping meals will help them lose weight faster. I’ve seen comments about doing OMAD (One Meal a Day) or fasting, and while some experience results, I want to talk to those who skip meals like lunch to eat more at dinner or intentionally avoid calories during the day.

Skipping meals to lower calorie intake can actually backfire. Why? Because it makes you more prone to overeating later. Your body responds to meal skipping by increasing ghrelin, the hunger hormone, which makes you hungrier and more likely to binge when you finally eat.

Even if you don’t overeat at night, skipping meals frequently can slow down your metabolism. A slower metabolism makes it harder to burn calories efficiently, which hampers long-term weight loss progress.

The key isn’t hacking the system or starving yourself. It’s following a consistent, balanced diet that you can stick to over time. Stay structured, stay consistent, and avoid the cycle of extreme fasting—you’ll see better results that last.
