Many people believe that quick-fix diets like 7-day plans or cleansing diets are effective shortcuts to weight loss. The truth is, these diets are not only ineffective in the long run but also unhealthy.
The Reality of 7-Day Diets
Most 7-day diets claim that eating specific foods or very small portions can help you lose several kilos in just a week. While this may sound appealing, the reason you see quick results is simple: you’re consuming very few calories and restricting food intake drastically. Naturally, you’ll lose weight rapidly, but this is only temporary.
The Problem with Cleansing Diets
Cleansing diets take it even further—offering just 2 to 3 juices a day and nothing else. Yes, you will likely lose some weight, but it’s important to understand: this approach is completely unsustainable. You might see short-term results, but once you return to your regular eating habits, the weight will almost certainly come back.
Why These Diets Don’t Work
The primary reason these diets fail is that they are not designed for long-term success. Rapid weight loss from extreme dieting often leads to muscle loss, nutrient deficiencies, and a very unhealthy relationship with food. Plus, once the diet ends, most people revert to old habits and gain all the weight back—sometimes even more.
While cleansing diets may offer some benefits to gut health and microbiome, these are not the main reasons people pursue them. Most are looking for quick weight loss, which these diets just cannot deliver sustainably.
A Better Approach
In my experience as a personal trainer, I’ve never seen someone go from fat to skinny solely through these extreme diets. Long-term, sustainable weight loss requires a balanced, healthy eating plan that you can stick with.
So, stop wasting time on these extreme quick fixes. Find a suitable, realistic diet that works for your lifestyle and goals. Patience and consistency are your best friends on this journey.
And that’s it — FITNERO out.
